The forest has a fantastic network of paths that attracts walkers, cyclists and horse riders and is a wonderful place to encourage people to make the most of the outdoors. The red squirrel trail gives children the opportunity to explore and spot the squirrels, this route is accessible to everyone, of all abilities

The path joins up with the railway line as you near the historic village of Culross. There is so much for you to discover on the Fife Coastal Path. Stretching for 117 miles from the Firth of Forth in the south, to the Firth of Tay in the north, the route offers an unrivalled walking experience.

The Fife Pilgrim Way is an exciting new heritage project that seeks to engage the support of local people and visitors in enjoying a new long distance walking route through the heart of Fife.The Pilgrim Way follows the medieval pilgrim trail across Fife. Modern day walkers can enjoy this 64 mile route, starting at North Queensferry and Culross and finishing in St Andrews.

Fife has one of the UK’s most comprehensive cycling networks. Over 350 miles of sign posted cycle network includes a variety of leisure and commuting routes. Terrain varies from off road disused railway tracks to routes in forests and from networks in towns and networks in quiet country lanes.

At Callender Estate you can enjoy a network of single track mountain bike trails to complement the walking and horse riding routes already available. They are easy family friendly routes through attractive woodland.

The forest trails at Gartmorn Wood make up part of the larger Gartmorn Dam Country Park in Clackmannanshire. The wood itself dates from the 1700’s and provides walkers, cyclists and riders the opportunity to experience a wild array of wildlife as well as spectacular views over the nearby Ochil Hills.

Had a lovely holiday. Falkirk Wheel well worth a visit, Trossachs and Glencoe were beautiful. Loved the wildlife around the cottage, thank you for sharing your lovely cottage, would definitely recommend it.
